Investment presentation and structured product materials being reviewed at a desk

A strong investment idea can still lose momentum when its materials leave basic questions unanswered. For an AMC or another structured product, investor materials should do more than look polished: they should help a professional reader understand the instrument, the economics, the people responsible and the risks.

Start with the instrument, not the adjectives

State clearly whether the proposition is an Actively Managed Certificate, a note, a fund interest or something else. Identify the issuer, the role of the strategy manager and what a holder legally owns. Explain how returns are linked to the underlying strategy or credit exposure. Terms such as “asset backed”, “segregated” or “liquid” should only be used where the final legal and operational documents support them.

Make the investment process inspectable

A professional investor should be able to find the mandate, eligible assets, selection process, risk controls and reporting approach without hunting through a long deck. For an AMC, describe what the manager may change and what requires approval. For a financing note, describe the borrower or reference exposure, repayment source, security package and key events. Diagrams can help, but should clarify real relationships rather than imply protections that do not exist.

Show the full cost and risk picture

Separate issuer risk, market or asset risk, counterparty risk, valuation uncertainty and liquidity constraints. Explain fees and expenses in the terms that investors will actually bear. Historical performance, if used, needs a clear methodology and appropriate limitations. A clean design is not a substitute for balanced disclosure.

Connect the deck to the order process

If the intended route is through a bank, broker or investment platform, the materials should explain the steps at a high level: identification, eligibility, intermediary review, dealing instructions and ongoing servicing. They should not imply that an ISIN guarantees acceptance by any platform. Sales and investor-relations teams need an approved question-and-answer set and a named escalation route for technical or legal questions.

Keep every version aligned

The teaser, pitch deck, website, term sheet and definitive documents should tell the same story. Create a version owner, an approval process and a review cadence, especially when strategy terms or service providers change. In cross-border distribution, have qualified advisers review the content and channel for the jurisdictions and investor types in scope.
